Communication to residents
Effective communication to residents is essential to making home-sharing in corporation housing a success. Hospi Housing supports corporations at every step.
Why is good communication important?
Residents have questions and concerns about home-sharing:
- Am I allowed to do this? What does my contract say?
- Does it affect my rent or benefits?
- Who will come live in my house?
- What if it doesn't work out?
By answering these questions up front, you lower the threshold and increase sign-ups.
What do we offer?
- Resident letter: a clear, warm letter explaining what home-sharing is and how it works
- FAQ for residents: answers to the most frequently asked questions, written specifically for corporation tenants
- Information evenings: sessions in the neighbourhood where residents can ask questions and hear how it's gone for other hosts
- Personal approach: for residents who show interest but are still unsure, we offer a personal conversation
Tone of voice
We always communicate warmly, accessibly, and honestly. We understand that letting someone into your home is a big step. That's why we emphasise:
- that the resident always chooses who comes to live there
- that there's a 9-month trial period
- that Hospi Housing guides and supports throughout
- that it can be financially attractive (room rental tax exemption)
Results from practice
Our experience with other corporations shows that a personal, approachable touch works best. Residents who attend an information session or hear a personal story sign up as hosts significantly more often.
