Hospita rental via corporations
Housing corporations own a large share of the Dutch housing stock. Many corporation tenants live in spacious homes with empty rooms. Home-sharing offers a unique opportunity to put that space to use.
How does it work?
Residents of corporation housing can, with permission from the corporation, rent out a room to a tenant via Hospi Housing. The resident becomes a host and offers someone a home, while the corporation's property is better utilised.
Benefits for the corporation
- Better use of housing stock: empty rooms are put to productive use
- Contributing to housing targets: more living places without new construction
- Social cohesion: home-sharing encourages contact between residents
- Combating loneliness: especially for older residents living alone
- No additional costs: the resident handles the rental themselves
Benefits for the resident
- Extra income: up to €6,633 per year tax-free through the room rental exemption
- Company: having someone in the house can be lovely, especially if you live alone
- Support: Hospi Housing handles the matching, the contract, and ongoing support
Conditions
Home-sharing in corporation housing comes with a few conditions:
- Permission from the housing corporation is required
- The resident must continue living in the property themselves
- The room must meet basic requirements
- Income and rent price rules apply
