Screening tenants
Choosing the right tenant is perhaps the most important step in the whole process. You'll be sharing your home, so you want to be sure it's a good fit. Below you'll find what we look at, and what you can look at yourself.
How we verify tenants
You're not on your own: we keep an eye on the quality of our housing seekers too. Everyone needs a personal account to respond, so no one can just approach you out of the blue. A housing seeker first sends a message request with a personal motivation, so you immediately see who's interested and why. And before a tenant moves in, we personally reach out to them to get everything well prepared. That way you can be sure you're dealing with serious, committed candidates.
What to look for yourself
- Complete profile: does the candidate have a profile photo, a description and a verified email? A complete profile inspires confidence.
- Communication: do they respond quickly and clearly? Is the conversation pleasant?
- Expectations: do your expectations align, for example on length of stay, lifestyle, guests and cleaning?
- Motivation: why is this person looking for housing through Hospi Housing, and do they understand what hospita rental involves?
Good questions to ask
- What do you do during the day? (Study, work)
- How would you describe yourself as a housemate?
- What's important to you in a living situation?
- How long do you plan to stay?
- Have you lived with someone before?
Trust your gut too
Besides all the practical considerations, your gut feeling counts just as much. You'll be sharing your home, so it needs to feel right for both of you. Still in doubt? Take your time or schedule a second meeting.
