Responding & viewing

Found a place you like? Great! How you respond, how you come across at a viewing, and knowing what to expect afterwards can make the difference between getting the room and missing out. Here are our tips.

Writing a good response

When you show interest in a room, the host receives your message along with your profile. Make it count:

What happens after your response?

  1. Host receives your message: The host sees your message and your profile, reviews your details, and decides whether to respond
  2. Waiting time: Most hosts reply within 24-48 hours. Some take longer, so be patient, but don't wait indefinitely
  3. Chat conversation: If the host is interested, they'll start a chat. Use it to get to know each other and ask questions

Preparing for a viewing

Has the host invited you for a viewing? Congratulations! Here's how to prepare:

During the viewing

Good questions to ask:

After the viewing

Send a quick follow-up to thank the host for the viewing. If you're interested, say so clearly. And if it's not for you, be honest about that too. Hosts appreciate transparency.

No response?

If a host hasn't replied within a week, they've probably chosen another candidate. Don't take it personally. It happens all the time and says nothing about you. Just keep searching and responding to new rooms.

After a match

When you and a host both want to go ahead, a match is confirmed. At that point:
