Our mission & impact

Why we do what we do

The Netherlands is facing a housing crisis. Hundreds of thousands of people are looking for a home, while at the same time over 1 million rooms stand empty in Dutch households. That doesn't add up. And we want to change it.

Hospi Housing was born from the conviction that the solution already exists, in the homes of ordinary people. By making empty rooms available, we create living space without a single brick being laid.

Our story

Hospi Housing grew from the personal experience of founder Daan, who as a foreign student in Colombia experienced what it's like to be new somewhere and looking for a home. That experience inspired him to build a platform connecting people with a spare room to people who need one.

The concept of hospita rental (renting a room from someone who lives in the same house) isn't new. In the '70s and '80s it was perfectly normal in the Netherlands. Hospi Housing brings this proven concept back, but with today's technology, safety standards, and personal guidance.

Our impact in numbers

More than a platform

With Hospi Housing, you don't simply post a listing and wait. We stay with you the whole way, from the first introduction and verification to the contract and everything that follows. And we don't do it alone: together with municipalities and housing corporations, we're turning hospita rental into a serious answer to the housing crisis.

Because behind every match there's a story. A room that no longer sits empty. Someone who finally has a home. And another step towards a housing market that works for everyone. That's what drives us.
