Summer has officially begun, which means one thing: the student housing search season is in full swing. Thousands of incoming bachelor’s, master’s and international students are actively looking for a room and are signing up to Hospi Housing in large numbers. For hosts, this is the perfect moment to take action.
The ideal time to rent out your room
Do you have a room available now or in the near future? June and July are the busiest months, with a large pool of motivated candidates. By publishing or updating your listing now, you significantly increase your chances of finding the right match. With clear photos, an up-to-date description and well-defined preferences, you stay in control of who can contact you, so you will find a suitable tenant.
As a host, you can easily create or update your listing. You decide who can reach out to you: only candidates that meet your criteria are able to send a chat request. Once you’ve found a suitable match after an introduction meeting, always confirm the rental period via Hospi Housing. This gives you direct access to our rental contract and ensures full support and guidance throughout the entire rental period.
Deposit management via Hospi Housing
This summer, Hospi Housing will introduce deposit management. Less hassle, more security. The deposit will be handled in advance, clearly visible in your dashboard, and you’ll receive support in case of any disputes. A safe and transparent solution for both hosts and tenants.

We recently celebrated a great milestone: Hospi Housing appeared in the new RTL 4 television program Huis Gezocht! In the episode aired on May 31, former student Milo was followed in his search for housing, supported by our platform. A powerful look into the current housing challenges in the Netherlands.
Partnerships with local municipalities
Local governments are also stepping up. In Haarlem, Hospi Housing has launched a campaign together with the municipality to encourage homestay rentals. In Haarlem, residents are allowed to rent out one or two rooms without a permit. Arnhem is following suit, working alongside educational institutions to recruit new hosts. In both cities, homestay rentals create opportunities for residents and students alike.
Real-life stories from the community
A great example comes from Krommenie, where Ozkan, a tenant with housing association Parteon, rents out one of the bedrooms in his apartment to Fikret. It helps reduce costs and brings extra social connection at home. His advice? “Give each other space and privacy — that’s the key to making homestay renting work.”
