Maaike's rooms therefore consist of two spaces, each measuring over 7 m². One of the spaces is the bedroom and is located furthest from my bedroom, so that we are not disturbed by each other's evening rhythms and activities. The room contains an old French spindle bed, an empty wooden chest of drawers, and a wardrobe. The small living room has a sliding door to the garden, a small refrigerator, and a brand-new induction hob. There is a cupboard and a table in it. The table can be removed if desired, and the cupboard can also be placed in the bedroom if necessary. Both rooms have pleasant natural light. There is very little tourism on. It is a quiet, green neighborhood with many families living here. Children still play outside here! The street has just been completely renovated; tram line 1 has been running through the street since then, which is otherwise one-way traffic. There is a real Italian pizzeria across the street that is fantastic. Bicycles can be secured to a bike rack in front of the door. I have lived in this neighborhood with great pleasure for over 30 years. First as a student on Blankenstraat, and later with my family on. So I’ve seen the neighborhood change from a slum into one of the nicest neighborhoods in Amsterdam. Quiet, diverse, friendly, green, spacious, water-rich, and central. What more could you want?
