Reporting discrimination
Hospi Housing stands for equality and inclusion. Discrimination in any form is not tolerated on our platform.
What is discrimination?
Discrimination is the unequal treatment of people based on:
- Origin, ethnicity, or nationality
- Religion or beliefs
- Gender or gender identity
- Sexual orientation
- Age
- Disability or chronic illness
The Good Landlordship Act (Wet Goed Verhuurderschap, 2023) explicitly prohibits discrimination in tenant selection.
Examples of discrimination
- A host rejecting you because of your surname or appearance
- Unwanted comments about your background, religion, or orientation
- Refusing to schedule a viewing after seeing your profile photo
- Setting different rental conditions based on someone's background
How to report discrimination
- To Hospi Housing: Contact our team. Describe what happened, with whom, and when. We take every report seriously and investigate it
- Save evidence: Screenshots of messages, emails, or notes of what was said
- External reporting: You can also file a report with the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights (College voor de Rechten van de Mens) or an anti-discrimination bureau (ADB) in your region
What does Hospi Housing do?
In the case of a proven discrimination report, we take action:
- The host receives a warning
- For repeated behaviour, the account can be suspended or removed
- We support you in filing an external report if you wish
Our promise
Everyone deserves equal opportunities for housing. It doesn't matter where you come from, what language you speak, or what you believe. You are welcome at Hospi Housing. We actively work to keep our platform fair and safe for everyone.
