Hospi Housing will become the online platform where students and hots in Eindhoven can connect with each other. And that is much needed, as there is a shortage of housing for students. The collaboration with Hospi Housing arises from the partnership established within the student housing covenant.

Alderwoman Mieke Verhees is happy with the platform: 'We have a reliable partner in Hospi Housing for both students looking for a room (temporary) and hosts and host families who have a room available. With Hospi Housing I expect homestay to be a significant solution in the battle against the housing shortage.'

With help of the Hospi Housing platform, Einhoven hopes to expand available accommodation for students and make better use of existing room(s) in the city. The recently eased regulations make it much simpler and more attractive for private individuals in Eindhoven to rent out a room in their house. In most cases no permit is necessary.

An unique experience

Especially international students struggle to find a room. This platform can provide a solution for this group and other groups of room seekers. Temporarily providing housing for a student does not only provide you with an extra income, it also offers good company and a unique experience.

The gemeente Eindhoven is the principal client and Fontys, TU/e and the Design Academy Eindhoven are collaborative partners. The collaboration is set for an initial period of one year and depending on the results, that period can be extended. The goal is to achieve 100 matches in the first year.

Hans Nederlof, member of the Executive Board at Fontys Hogeschool: 'Providing temporary housing to a student in your own home is quite a big decision for many private individuals. The support by Hospi Housing will certainly provide extra help and assurance. I hope it will encourage more people to take this step to help more students find a home away from home.
