A good preparation is half the battle and can significantly improve your homestay-experience.

Tip 1: Prepare the space you rent

Make sure the space you rent out is clean and ready for rental. With homestay rental, furnished rooms need to contain at least a bed, sofa and desk. A separate key for the room is advised but optional. It's up to the tenant to further decorate and personalize the room. Tip: as a welcome gift, flowers or a fresh baked cake are also optional, but a nice welcome 😉

Tip 2: Plan the time of arrival

Don't let yourselves be surprised by an empty room or a late-night guest. Discuss up-front with your future tenant what date & time they expect to arrive. Make sure to be at home and be prepared for the arrival. Pick them up from the train station is very kind, but again: optional. Be aware: in case you have an international tenant, take into account the different time zones when communicating and making appointments.
