Housing Corporation Parteon in North Holland starts Homestay Rental Campaign

Thinking in opportunities instead of barriers. Housing corporation Parteon is the perfect example. After a successful pilot, Parteon and Hospi Housing have started a collaboration to stimulate Homestay Rental for tenants of Parteon.

Parteon Housing Corporation is a perfect example of thinking in possibilities instead of barriers. After a successful pilot, Parteon and Hospi Housing have started a collaboration to promote Homestay Rental. Parteon tenants who have an extra room can rent it out to someone else. This way, they can help people in need and at the same time earn some extra income themselves.

Collaboration Between Hospi Housing and Parteon

Parteon tenants can rent one room in their home to one person. This is known as Homestay Rental. In 2022, Parteon already conducted a successful Homestay Rental pilot Starting in September 2024, these opportunities are being expanded, and Homestay Rental is being further promoted. Hospi Housing will assist Parteon with the implementation of this concept. "Hospi Housing helps our tenants find a room mate and guides them through the process. This service is free of charge for tenants," says Eeke van der Wal, Customer Director at Parteon.

Already Found a Tenant

Tenants who already know whom they want to rent the extra room to can also contact Hospi Housing. Hospi Housing informs both the tenant and the subtenant so they understand the process and helps them draw up a contract. Daan Donkers, founder of Hospi Housing, says, “For Hospi Housing, support, personal contact, and a perfect match are the most important things. Hospi Housing assists tenants and landlords throughout the entire process while ensuring they remain in control.”

Four Important Rules Summarized

• Tenants may rent one room to one person.
• The tenant and subtenant share the kitchen, toilet, and bathroom.
• The subtenant receives a rental contract.
• The subtenant has at least 12 square meters of living space.

National Campaign on Host Rentals

Minister Mona Keijzer of Housing launched a national information campaign on homestay rental in the summer of 2024. Research shows that approximately one-third of Dutch residents have suitable space for homestay rental, and around 8% are considering becoming a host.
