Together with ASVA student union, the biggest student organization in Amsterdam, we are here to ensure your soft landing in the Netherlands, from finding a ‘home away from home’ all the way to becoming a true Amsterdammer.

Looking for a room? Homestay is the solution to the (student) housing crisis in Amsterdam

Searching for student accommodation in Amsterdam amongst a dreading housing crisis can get frustrating. In 2022, 26,500 students all over the Netherlands had trouble finding a room. Hospi Housing is the largest platform for homestay in the Netherlands, fighting for room seekers' right to affordable housing. In particular, we connect (international) students with local hosts to accommodate you during your studies. It’s affordable, sustainable and most of all — very fun!

Sign up and get free access to unlimited searching until you find your perfect match. Furthermore, all hosts are personally verified by our team to avoid scams and you do not pay anything unless you actually get a room. This way, we make better use of existing housing and provide a social solution to the housing shortage. Finally, we collaborate with 25+ municipalities and educational institutions to provide as many people as possible with a safe space to call home.

Become an ASVA member

ASVA is the union for all students in Amsterdam. We are committed to fighting for good education and affordable student housing, working to advance the interests of students. In addition to our advocacy efforts, we aim to make the lives of our members easier and more enjoyable. To become a member, you only need to pay a small fee, ranging from 10 to 15 euros. Need a bike?

ASVA organizes monthly bike sales where you can purchase the cheapest legal bikes in the city. As a member of ASVA, you are eligible to participate in these sales, with bikes priced at €85 each. Need help moving?

Being a student in Amsterdam often involves frequent moves between accommodations. To make this process more convenient, ASVA offers the rental of a spacious carrier cycle, perfect for transporting your belongings to your new room. Additionally, the carrier cycle can be utilized for other purposes or even for hosting a party. Enjoy the flexibility and ease provided by ASVA's cargo bike rental service.

Legal aid

As a student in Amsterdam, you will encounter various legal matters, such as signing rental agreements or employment contracts. Additionally, you might face situations within your education where you believe you deserve different treatment, such as concerning BSA or exam resit possibilities. In such instances, ASVA's legal office is there to help.

Our team of dedicated law students is ready to assist you with a wide range of legal issues, including tenancy law, labor law, education law, and concerns with DUO (the Dutch Student Loans Agency). Furthermore, if you are facing challenges or disagreements within your study program, our legal office can guide you on where to seek further assistance within the UvA or HvA.
