Photos & listing tips
Your listing is the first thing potential tenants see. Good photos and an honest description make the difference between finding a match quickly or waiting a long time.
Photos that work
Photos are by far the most important part of your listing. Our tips:
- Use daylight: Photograph during the day with the curtains open. Daylight makes rooms look more spacious and inviting.
- Tidy up: A tidy room looks bigger and more attractive.
- Shoot from corners: This way you capture the whole room in one image.
- Multiple angles: Take at least 3-4 photos of the room from different perspectives.
- Shared spaces: Also add photos of the kitchen, bathroom, living room, and the garden or balcony if you have one.
- Be honest: Don't use filters and don't make the room look better than it is. Honest photos lead to better matches.
A strong description
Besides the photos, your description counts too. Tell people about:
- The room: Size, furniture, view, light
- The house: Age, floors, garden/balcony, pets
- The neighborhood: Amenities, public transport, atmosphere
- Yourself: Who are you? What kind of housemate are you looking for?
- House rules: What are your expectations?
Common mistakes
- Too few photos (at least 4-5 is ideal)
- Dark or blurry photos
- No photos of shared spaces
- Description too short or vague
- Not mentioning the rent price
Take your time over your listing. It pays off.
